Breaking Barriers – Bargate Murray lends a helping hand to MyBigCareer
At Bargate Murray we pride ourselves on the quality of our talented and diverse team.
As a signatory to the Law Society’s Diversity and Inclusion Charter, we have been looking at ways to implement our skills and experience in the local community.
A member of the firm has recently become involved in the mentoring of a local Hackney student, providing assistance with their university application and fostering their interest in a career in law.
The mentoring opportunity arose through the charity MyBigCareer’s pilot scheme in Hackney. Established in September this year, the charity’s mission is:
“to provide one-to-one careers guidance to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and to breakdown barriers to social mobility.”
A representative of MyBigCareer comments:
“Assistance that businesses and industries can provide is valuable to young people looking to enter careers such as the legal profession. It is gratifying that firms such as Bargate Murray are willing to help further our ethos. The charity is in its early stages and we really do value local support. Even the briefest meeting or interaction with our young people can make a big difference to inspiring and realising ambitions.”
